satconsystem is one of the pioneers in agricultural GPS applications. Since 1993, agricultural master Georg Duerrstein has been dedicated to field surveys using GPS technology, specifically for area-based subsidy payments in the EU.
In 1994, on the initiative of Prof. Auernhammer, Mr. Duerrstein presented a functional field measurement system based solely on GPS to EU staff during a training session in Biberach, Germany, for determining field sizes.
Subsequently, in the mid-1990s, the entire range of Precision Farming technologies, such as yield measurement in combine harvesters, variable fertilization, and sensing, were added. satconsystem was the first European company to showcase a functional GPS-controlled fertilizer spreader for site-specific fertilization at the 1st European Precision Farming Conference in England in 1997.
In 1996, satconsystem became the world’s first company to be tested and certified by the US Department of Defense (DoD) at the Jefferson Proofing Ground in the USA for the “Paper of Common GPS,” specifically for landmine detection. satconsystem‘s GPS technology was used, among other applications, for landmine clearance operations in countries like Mozambique.
